[Abk. Fast IrDA, FIR], eine internationale Organisation, die sich mit Hardware- und Software-Standards für die Infrarotdatenübertragung beschäftigt. Während die Version IrDA 1.0 (Serial IrDA, SIR) nur Infrarot-Transferraten bis zu 115 Kbit/s erlaubt, werden bei der Version IrDA 1.1 (Fast IrDA) bis zu 4 Mbit/s halbduplex erreicht.
